blog: dear friend,

I made a little 1-minute video of our Monday morning adventure to the Hollywood sign - hope you like it!

good things:
1. avoiding LA traffic to and from!
2. being the only ones at the end of the trail.
3. listening to the sound of the morning at 1,600 ft.
3. hiking before it got hot.
4. finishing just in time for breakfast.

Spirit of the living God come fall afresh on me
Come wake me from my sleep
Blow through the caverns of my soul, pour in me to overflow
To overflow

This past week has been incredibly busy. I started summer school which is four days a week, we had clinics/auditions for next year’s team every weekday, and I had an interview for a potential internship opportunity. In between all that I didn’t really have time to start physically training till the weekend, but throughout the week I have been eating really well/clean/intuitively so that’s helped prep for actual training.

SaturdayMorningKickboxing : 45 minutesGreat release of energy and power after this busy week! After, I ate at Native Foods, again. Nachos and tacos were delicious.
Evening2.04 mile runMy first run in two weeks, oh boy. I stayed at a good steady-rate running pace and on my run, I realized that my mind quits sooner than my body so discipline and mental strength is something I really need to work on. Sunday
Afternoon2.3 mile run (overall about 3.7 miles with walking/cool down)Went on a different route with more hills. Again, I could’ve ran more, but I just wanted to stop :( At least I went a little further.

Thoughts: What did I get myself into? I’ve kind of been discouraged with my times and my ability to only run two miles (but when I ran my 5k last month I was able to go 2.7 miles straight which I’ve never done before! Probably because of the motivation from being around other runners.) I realize that my times aren’t the best but this is where I’m starting. I can’t keep comparing myself to other people with better times and those who can run 5 miles with no problem because I’m not them. I’ve been running on and off since February and coming from a non-existant running background, I’d say I’m at a decent starting place.I have 20 weeks to train and with dedication and discipline, I can do this. I can do this!! It seems impossible right now to picture myself running 13.1 miles and I can’t quite see myself actually running to the point where even 3 miles is my standard but I WILL GET THERE and like any other goal, I have to start small and achieve things slowly. But man, when that time comes what an accomplishment that will be. Right?{ Thanks for reading my little vent. Any encouragements will greatly be accepted and appreciated :) }"I may not be there yet, but I am closer than I was yesterday.""Every accomplishment starts with the decision to try."
